every one has his own style in painting
I learn something every time I sit down at my paint table. I get more on my hands then I do on the figure
Use the paint that you like Oils or Acrylics and if you cant paint the flags and shields then go to the war game site and look at the decals and flags for sale 28 mm would be the close to the figures. I think it is a great Idea to learn from other people if its in a club or a show or YU TUBE
I ought to know when I moved down to Southern FL I join a toy soldier club and at one meeting voiced the same thing. Well this is what I got I have been painting for 45 year and we don't need to learn anything. So fast forward to this year and there show and now we need to do things to keep the club going ,get the picture.
You know what I have been painting a set of Boxer Chines I got from my mother in 1965
I do not know how many times I have painted them and turned around and striped them and started over
. As for reinventing the wheel every day when I get up I do that
As for going back to school to take a art class I would go for it. I would take the figure painting class
As for color mixing I think I have talked about a couple of books on the subject. Color Mixing Recipes for Landscapes, For Portraits, Color Mixing Recipes.by Walter Foster. So that's about it hang in there and paint. Willie
