This is a photographic record of the groups produced by Heinrichsen from 1839 to 1939. Over 230 colour pages of groups small and large, most are factory painted though some are by collectors. There are a few by the esteemed Mr Douchkine in the ancients section.
I got mine from Amazon this week for a touch over £7 and if you like this sort of thing it's a great book. They have a certain toy like charm but some show up very well with a more modern paint job. Some are rather fanciful, but there are others clearly accurate and some of the original drawings are also shown, which indicates what detail there might be underneath that thick layer of factory enamel. Very little text, the intro is in German and there is a time-line at the back showing which pieces were engraved each year.
It's a soft cover, lovely glossy good quality paper and printing.
