Since the photo was taken I have added shading on the trousers and lighted upp the face of the rider a bit.

That looks better.

Well done, for a first horse that's pretty neat painting. shading and highlighting could be worked on if you want to emphasise the 3 D effect. However, that is only one style of painting, and if you are happy with it, leave it as it is :). Never change your style, unless you feel happy to do so, the most important thing is to enjoy painting, not pleaseing others. :) 8)

When in my first posting in this thread used the expression all the pretty horses it was on purpose, as a reference to Cormac McCarthy's novel. But I love Blood Meridian, his masterpiece, even more.

The trader in gooses from the Berliner Zinnfiguren's set. The inspiration for the chestnut color came from all the pretty horses I saw grazing on my way to the summer house earlier this year.
