Austrian National Library now have digitalized also newspapers from the period between the wars.
Most interesting that I have found yet are two dioramas shown in Leipzig in 1930, Cortez meeting Montezuma and Nebukanessar in Babylon:

I found these two interesting German language articles when searching on the world
Zinnfiguren
in Austrian National Library's digitalized magazines:

Interesting that the author speaks of collecting already in 1918.
The second one is from right after WWII broke out in 1939
