OK since you live in Texas go out and look at horses. If you are lucky and know someone with a horse ask them if they would put a halter on them, lead them around pick a day with bright sun light overcast early evening and morning. Get your camera and shoot around that animal. If you can get a rider see how the light falls on them booth. Since we are on this subject go to the local zoo and see how the light falls on elephants camels. Also get a book on horse colors.
