I went today with a group to see the Repin exhibition at the Ateneum National Art Museum here in Helsinki. His perhaps greatest painting Zapohozian Cossacks writing to the Turkish Sultan was shown. It was constantely on my mind that F. K. Mohr did a rendering of the subject as we all know.
Of course I did learn somewhat more of the original painting that I did know before.
The famous Russian painter actually lived in Finland after 1917 and made contacts with Finnish artists here.
