thank you for the explanation.
My approach to figures is an other, but I think there should not be a big problem to add some colours to a drawing.
Just one point: Often you have a difference between drawing and engraving (in many of my figures too).
So - a coloured drawing can give you some kind of informaton, but there is no guarantee, that you will find every detail of the figure in the drawing.
But a agree, that a coloured pattern could be very helpful for non-experts
