hi Isabelle,

for groundwork I use a sand and cement mix, medium dryness, this retains the bumpy effect, I then paint it with shades of brown.

For tufts of grass I use a product made for model railways, I will send you the email link of Martin who sells it, it comes in green for winter and brown for summer, and in different lenths.
if you go into the Gallery and look at my figures you can see what it looks like, especially on Toad of Toad Hall and Friends ( the BFFS figure )

for snow I use a product called Pollifilla, it is like plaster and you repair internal Walls with it. as long as it is White itvworks well, it also has crushed marble in it to make it shine like snow.

for Ice sheets make it quite wet so it flows, I also think Andreas Miniatures make a product ice?

hope this helps       Nicholas

Hello Wolfgang  :),
Thanks very much Wolfgang for yours advices  ;) Yes I know, I'm agree with you  ;) and I must progress in the diorama's decor. I don't use  grass mats or other until now  ;) ;D I'd like to use for the next ones, I have bought the book "le grand livre du décor de figurine" (I think it's the good tittle) to try to learn diorama's decor. But have you advice on this subjet ? It would be a great help for me  :) What do you put to makd ground, grass etc ?
The next one will be "the skaters" editor Jean-Jacques Mineur, I'll had I think in a few weeks but it's always the decor the problem  :P even if it's not be grass but snow and ice for the skaters  ;D

Well done Isabell.  :)
They show that characters do not have to disappear into cardboard boxes.  ;D ;D ;D ;D
Heller may be something for the next piece, the background, the figures come in better appearance.
Do they have the grass mats or other terrain materials used? As you can still see the figures - foot lines!
best regards
Wolfgang
