Anyone know what's being reissued this year?
-
Hello Brian,

Cheers

Thanks Roland, that will be spot on and a challenge to paint, all that armour!! it's a good job the last Journal gives us an idea on how to do it ;D

Would anyone going to Kulmbach be prepared to pick me up a set?
Also, what's happening about the Mignot book? I've been out of the loop somewhat. Is that still in the pipeline?
Simon
-
I'll pick one up for you, Simon. Remind me again please, by the middle of July.
Jacques' book is imminent. He sent me a digital copy so I could put together an English translation. It's looking very good - chapters on the history of the firm, engravers, designers, etc, and page after page of painted figures.

Thanks Ed. You're a star. Will email you in July.
Really looking forward to the Mignot book. Can't wait to get my hands on a copy!

If you find a dealer there that will sell these via the web would appreciate posting the detail?

@Ray,
I think some (additional) information could be of use:
The SEGOM-moulds are owned by the KLIO (biggest German collectors society).
Every now and then (normally for the Kulmbach fairs) a set of these moulds was casted anew - limited edition every time, not really cheap.
This year I did not stumble over an adverd, what set is planned.
So far I am surprised, if the "Joan of Arc" set is really in the pipeline - THOUGH I may be completely wrong with my knowledge yet.
A conclusion from the KLIO ownership: I doubt that you (or anyone) would find an overseas dealer, who regularly ships this set. Another question is, if you could find some visitor, who is present at Kulmbach and ships this set "on a private basis" over the pond.
The problem is even more - by now I haven't seen a price for this set. Otherwise I could offer my help in obtaining the set for you.
Hope, that I did not destroy too many hopes.

Jörg,
I guees that you meant "Mignot" and not "Segom", I have always thought that the Plassenburg Museum owns the Mignot moulds are you sure Jörg about this?
Jan
-
@Jan, of course you are quite right - the question is about the MIGNOT moulds. :-\ My fault.
Concerning the ownership I will check this again.

Anyway - the procedure is the same....

Hello Joerg,
As usual I find your insight very useful and to the point, Thank you for providing clarity. As you say the very nature of "limited editions" can make them rather difficult to obtain, especially if they are well done! I thought they were a very nice set on a great historical topic, but if I don't buy them I'm sure the sun will still rise in the morning and I will still have to go to work. :P

@ friends,
I did a little research:
This year a (reduced) set of Joan of Arc is to be edited (13 mounted, 3 foot).
The whole series would regarded too expensive.
Price and pictures are expected in the next days.
Hope this helps

Earlier up in this thread, there is mention made of an upcoming book on Mignot's. Does anyone know any news on this forthcoming book? Is it expected to be released at Kulmbach (which would seem logical)?
-
Yes, the book "Mignot" is nearly ready. It will be available at Kulmbach fair (maybe some days earlier). Got this information by the editor Egon Krannich/Edition Krannich, some days ago.
Cheers
